That Distinct Something Extra

I'm a big fan of savory. I deeply crave cheese, mushrooms, tomatoes, Marmite and all the heartier fare on a regular basis. Maybe it is the German in me. That's why I was so intrigued when I found out that scientists had discovered a new taste - Umami - also known as the Fifth Taste. You probably heard about it in the news a few years ago. It's that little something extra that the buds recognise as rich and satisfying.

So, if you've ever wanted to sink your teeth into a wedge of Parmesan cheese you'd like the fact that Umami now comes in a tube. Yes, I am going to try this.
