Freedomland on Friday

Last Friday we went to see the movie Freedomland. It was terrible - pure crap that ranks right up there with 2005's Sin City and Be Cool. I cannot be too surprised though. The first quarter of every year holds the worst of what Hollywood has to offer. January through April is traditionally one of the slowest times in the movie business so the studios and production companies dust off the junk they've put on the shelf and release it to whatever poor sap happens to wander into a theatre after the Christmas "Oscar-worthy" bonanza and before the summer blockbusters. Astude observers of pop culture will notice how many horror and slasher flicks show up in January. Well, now you know why. Then again horror is my favorite genre so this time of year can't be all bad. ;)

Don't bother with Freedomland. It is not even worth tuning in when it shows up on the USA Network in a year or two.
